You’re doing better than you think

The one glaring problem with assuming a posture of growth and forward motion is that it can be easy to focus exclusively on what is lacking without taking time to acknowledge the progress you’ve already made.

You certainly have room to grow. We all do.

But this is your friendly reminder that you’re doing better than you think.

How do I know?

It’s a paradox, but the fact that you are concerned about being a good leader is a key indicator that you are focused on developing the skills and traits needed to be a good leader.

The people who are truly failing as leaders won’t be reading this email or stressing out about how they are doing as leaders.

The fact that you worry about being a good leader is proof that you don’t need to worry about being a good leader.

OPPORTUNITY FOR ACTION: Set aside 5 minutes this week to reflect on the progress you’ve made as a leader in the past year. What have you learned? How have you helped your people overcome obstacles?
