This is why the money doesn’t make you happy
Here’s an overwhelmingly unpopular opinion: I don’t believe that anyone really wants money.
They want what money can do for them.
Money is a tool, and in the same way that no one really wants a pile of hammers, piling up money for sport isn’t really gratifying.
You don’t really want to be rich…
You really want to demonstrate your success to your friends, or…
You really want access to the best healthcare as you age, or…
You really want to take lots of trips without worrying about the bill, or…
You really want to put your kids through college without leaving them in crushing debt, or…
You really want to never stress about having enough money, or…
You really want to enjoy the finer things in life, or…
You want to retire as early as possible, or…
The reason the money doesn’t make you happy is you haven’t clarified what you really want it to do for you.
The money isn’t good enough if you want to travel, but your business demands your constant attention.
The money isn’t good enough if you need it to manage the health issues brought on by the stress of your business.
The money isn’t good enough if you can’t spend time with the friends you want to impress.
Your business should be a machine that gets you more of what you want.
The money it generates should be accompanied by the freedom to leverage it to reach your personal goals.
